Modern Heavy-Duty Truck Electrical & Communication Systems
This course is designed to provide refresher training on automotive electrical system troubleshooting and tool use, as well as to introduce Controller Area Network (CAN) Bus and Local Interconnect Network (LIN) communication systems currently in use on modern heavy-duty trucks.
The course will address the following objectives.
- Use of electrical diagnostic tools
- Refresher training on Parallel and series circuits.
- Refresher training on utilizing Ohm's Law, Kirchhoff’s Law and Watt's Law as they now apply to CAN Bus communication systems.
- Introduction and explanation of the standardized J1939 and 1708 connectors utilized in Heavy Duty Trucks.
- Electrical troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
